Foundations evenly distribute the weight of a building to ensure a solid and stable structure. At Bradshaw Groundworks, our time-served team undertakes a range of high-quality foundation installations to meet the requirements of all types of domestic and industrial builds in the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton and all of the surrounding Oxfordshire areas.
For customers’ convenience, we also manage all stages of equine groundworks, and we undertake all of the necessary drainage preparations for groundworks projects. You can learn more about these services by reading our customer testimonials.
From an onsite meeting to the planning and installation, we provide a full service for all of the foundations we complete. This includes:
Our team typically uses trench foundations for home extensions and other domestic constructions. We use this type of foundation when the soil on the site is not strong enough for a strip foundation. These foundations are thinner than our quality strip foundations and are made with thicker concrete. The sides of the trench we create are key to supporting the house, so stable ground is beneficial for the build. As a result of the large quantities of concrete we use to fill the whole trench, we do not need to use bricks underneath the surface.
Raft constructions are ideal for sites where the soil doesn’t have sufficient strength or if clients are planning on using the upcoming building for heavy loads, such as industrial buildings. Our experts install a large concrete slab to support columns and walls. We spread slabs out under entire builds to lower the contact pressure. Our team lays the raft on a hardcore bed with thickened edges for sites with poor ground. These foundation installations are best for sites in and around the Cotswolds and Chipping Norton with a good load-bearing capacity.
Retaining walls can be a more complicated build because they need to be able to withstand horizontal soil pressure for sites with differing ground levels. Our team carefully considers groundwater when building retaining walls because it can create a lot of pressure and, over time, can affect the durability of the retaining wall. Our team has to create a way for the water to exit, which we normally do by adding quality piping through the wall.
The footings are part of foundation installations that distribute the load to a larger soil area. At Bradshaw Groundworks, our team creates quality footings that make the foundations safe for any domestic or industrial site we are working on. Footings for builds in the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton and the surrounding Oxfordshire areas can be used for shallow or deep foundations but are most often used for sites with shallow foundations.
